Styling notes
A few things we have learned from styling our own shoots — useful whether or not you buy from us.
Work in threes, at different heights
Groups of three read as deliberate where pairs read as symmetrical and fours read as clutter. Vary the height noticeably — a tall vase, a low bowl, something stacked — so the eye moves through the group instead of scanning across it.
Leave more empty space than feels comfortable
A shelf that is two-thirds full looks considered; one that is full looks like storage. If you are unsure, take one thing away and live with it for a week.
Light low and warm
One overhead light flattens a room. Two or three low, warm sources — a table lamp, a floor lamp, a candle — give it depth after dark. Aim for 2700K bulbs or warmer.
Mix materials, hold the palette
Combine ceramic, wood, brass and textile freely, but keep the colour range narrow. Contrast in texture with restraint in colour is what makes a corner look edited rather than accidental.
